To be or not to be

So, I’ve heard that you’ve been to hell and back. I see that you passed through the eye of the needle and waded the storm you thought would be the end of you. I’m not here to glorify your struggles, at the same time I won’t invalidate them. If you’ve come out onto the other side, you wouldn’t believe how proud I am and if you feel like you’re still stuck in that patch, better things are on their way.

Count your blessings is an easy quote that gets mumbled all the time. It may sound aesthetic and a good fit for a blog post but it can be the toughest thing to do when your mind is fuzzy and distracted by unwanted emotions. Getting through the day can be a tumultuous task and masking it all with a smile is even tougher.

Well doesn’t time heal all wounds? I like to think it does not and the actions you take to get over it are much more important than the amount of time that you spend pondering about the incident. ‘Give it some time’ isn’t always the best advice when someone is hanging by a thread. Your presence means a lot to people and so does your absence.

After drinking the golden elixir of life which usually spoils your liver if ingested in large quantities, someone once told me that isolation is the worst disease and those words still ring in my ears from time to time. How many out there must be yearning not just to be held but to be understood. So many out there would be looking for an emotional safe space that is so rarely afforded by a world that forces positivity down your throat.

I’m not a doctor, never wanted to be one even though I think it is one of the noblest professions. I’ve always felt that words have an innate healing property amongst themselves. They can bring people together or tear them apart. Conversation and communication are not necessarily the same thing but words, words that come from a place of true genuineness situated at the bottom of your heart is a good remedy for loneliness. But then again, I’m just a young boy trying to make it as a writer typing these words on Thursday afternoon because it feels like someone out there may need this more than I do.
