How to optimise your digital time

We live in a world that is fast-changing and everything right from dating to religious functions has shifted online. So, I shall take the liberty to say that most of our time is spent looking at the screens of all these technological gadgets. While this may be a boon in many ways there are also certain dangers that come with it. These can take over your life and you won’t even realize why you feel so tired and mentally exhausted day in and day out.

How many times have you heard that social media and Netflix are making you unproductive or destroying your mental and emotional health? While part of that may be true it isn’t entirely correct to blame any platform because the content shared on it is ultimately created by humans.

So where does that leave us? The reason why we have increased cases of burn out and fatigue is that we just consume content senselessly without realizing the kind of effect that they are having on our brain. Netflix or Instagram isn’t the reason that you are lazy.

It is your constant addiction to cheap entertainment and need for escapism that is the real monster here and the only way to beat that is to find ways to optimize your digital time.

Youtube in itself is such a big platform and you can learn a lot from it. Closely monitor the kind of shows or web series or documentaries that you see and you will suddenly realize that they help shape your thoughts and views to a certain extent. The same can be said for all the meme pages on sites such as Facebook and Instagram.

Just remember that you promote the kind of content that you consume and there is a lot of infotainment series out there that can entertain as well as teach you something important but we have gotten so used to the cringy, vulgar content that cleansing yourself from it certainly easier said than done.

My best way to consume good digital content that inspires me is to take a particular niche that I like and search for shows in that niche so that I can enjoy as well as learn something interesting in that field and before you know it you have a repository of knowledge while having fun and trust me there is no better way to learn.

I would even go so far as to say that Netflix and TV has been one of my greatest teachers when it comes to English or creating storylines that touch a special place in your heart. The TV was never an idiot box for me rather it was a ‘GURU’ who cannot be thanked enough for all that it has taught me.
